Kim Tae-ri Reflects Ahead of “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” Finale “Overcoming Concerns About Women’s Gukgeuk, Grateful for Viewers’ Love”

“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” is a drama set in the 1950s, post-Korean War, depicting the journey of the “natural-born sound genius” Jeong-nyeon as she aspires to become the best gukgeuk (Korean traditional opera) actress. The story unfolds around her rivalries, camaraderie and radiant growth. On November 16, the production team released heartfelt messages from the main cast regarding the finale.
Kim Tae-ri, who plays the lead role of Yoon Jeong-nyeon, said, “Thanks to the incredible efforts of all the cast and staff, and despite initial concerns about the unfamiliar subject of women’s gukgeuk, we’ve thankfully received immense love from viewers. That alone feels more than enough, and I’m truly grateful. I hope everyone enjoys the remaining two episodes comfortably.”

Shin Ye-eun, who plays Yoon Jeong-nyeon’s rival Heo Yeong-seo, shared her gratitude, “Thank you so much for all the love. In the final two episodes, you’ll see even more dazzling gukgeuk stages that have evolved with time, as well as the choices made by those who love gukgeuk amidst various incidents. Please stay tuned for that.“
Ra Mi-ran, who brought depth to the story as Maeran Theater Company’s director Kang So-bok, expressed mixed emotions, “The ending might feel bittersweet to some and bring anticipation for others. But just as you’ve enjoyed watching ‘Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born’ so far, the finale won’t disappoint. The last performance is truly extraordinary, so I hope you’ll cheer us on until the very end.“
